Administration

Head of School – Susie B. Neil

Susie B. Neil joined Christian Academy in 2016.  She is a very experienced leader, teacher, and counselor.  She has served schools in Tempe, Humboldt, Texas, and Kentucky. For several years, she has coordinated “English Camp” programs in foreign countries for the International Needs Network.  Most recently, she directed the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe’s On-The-Job Training Program and was their Director of Education.  She earned an Associate’s Degree from Cochise College, a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a Sociology minor from Austin Peay State University, and Master’s Degrees in Leadership and Administration, and Education majoring in counseling from Northern Arizona University.  She also holds an Administrative Certification in Leadership and Counseling.  Mrs. Neil and her husband have lived in Prescott since 2005 and attend Solid Rock Christian Fellowship.  She enjoys quilting and badminton.

 

Administrative Assistant/Office Manager – Susanne Stock

Susanne Stock has been the CAP Office Manager since 2011.  She is knowledgeable in all the functions of CAP and CAPP. For the past seven years she has worked in accounting and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.  Mrs. Stock is currently working towards an accounting certificate.  She attends church at American Evangelical Lutheran Church and is actively involved in her daughter’s school and extracurricular activities.

 

 

Office Assistant – Kristi Thompson

Kristi Thompson joined CAP in 2014.  She is a Christian Academy alumnus and a graduate of the University of Arizona.  She received her BA in anthropology and classics, graduating summa cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honors society.  She attends Heights Church and enjoys arts, crafts, reading, travel, learning foreign languages, baking, and spending time with her family.

 

 

Marketing and Recruiting Director – Lorette Brashear

Lorette Brashear moved to Prescott from El Paso, Texas.  Lorette is a graduate of New Mexico State University and holds degrees in Marketing and Spanish.  She has worked in marketing and sales for over 15 years.  Passionate about nature, the move to Prescott was a natural fit.  In her free time, Lorette loves to go camping with her family and attends Sacred Heart.

 

Elementary Faculty

 

 

Kindergarten – Brenda Lummer

Brenda Lummer joined Christian Academy in 2015.  Mrs. Lummer has taught school for over 15 years.  She served at Living Word Christian School in Missouri and at Franklin Phonetic School here in the Prescott area.  All of her teaching experience is in the primary grades.  Mrs. Lummer and her husband Steve lead the Discovery Church here in Prescott.

 

 

First Grade – Elizabeth Williams

Liz Williams joined Christian Academy in 2017.  She received a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelors in Christian Education from Temple Baptist Seminary.  Mrs. Williams has Arizona teaching credentials with an Early Childhood Endorsement (birth – age 8), and has taught every grade from Kindergarten through Eighth grade (except for third grade) over a 30-year teaching career.  She attends Heights Church and serves in the children’s ministry and is a leader in the women’s Bible studies.  She is married with two daughters and enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

 

 

Second Grade – Judith Garcia

Judith Garcia joined Christian Academy in 2010.  She received her BA in Biblical Studies and MA in Education from International Baptist College and Seminary.  Mrs. Garcia previously taught Spanish to grades K-8 at CAP as well as 7th Grade Bible, and served as an assistant to the mid-high teachers.  She is a pastor’s wife who serves with her husband in the Latino ministry at Solid Rock Christian Fellowship.  She enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with her family.

 

 

Third/Fourth Grade – Amanda Ciampaglio

Amanda Ciampaglio joined CAP in 2016.  She has been working with students ages 0 to high school for more than 10 years and is close to completing her degree in Special Education with a minor in Child Psychology and Art from Arizona State University.  She attends Prescott Christian Church and is on the staff for the high school youth group.  Ms. Ciampaglio enjoys seeking God’s creation through art, driving to find that perfect sunset photo, and enthusiastically announcing the presence of any dog nearby.

Upper Elementary/Jr High Faculty

 

Fifth/Sixth Grades & Mid-High Math & Science- Joanna Hallstrom

Joanna Hallstrom began teaching at CAP in 2012.  Mrs. Hallstrom received her BS in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University.  She and her husband attend Prescott Christian Church, where they serve as youth leaders.  Joey enjoys sports, travel, and a variety of crafts.

“God is in everything!  Seeing Him throughout our day in math or science excites my soul, and I love passing on that passion to my students.  Education is exciting because it is how we learn more about God.”

 

 

 

Seventh/Eighth Grades & Mid-High Language Arts & Social Studies – Vanessa Martin

Vanessa Martin has been teaching at Christian Academy since 2010.  Mrs. Martin received her BSEd and MA in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University and holds Arizona and ACSI teaching credentials with a reading endorsement and a K-12 art endorsement.  She attends the Potter’s House Christian Center and is involved in costuming for their children’s ministry.  Vanessa enjoys weaving, history, art, reading, and spending time with her husband and two children.

“I retired from teaching when my children were little and now I am enjoying being back in the classroom full time.  I love being able to share God’s word with students and help them develop their reading and writing skills.”

 

Other Faculty Positions

 

Music & Performance Art – Ashley Wood

Ashley Wood joined Christian Academy in 2016.  She is a born and raised Prescottonian and even attended Christian Academy for eight years.  She is currently working on obtaining her ACSI and Arizona state certifications.  She is a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute and Northern Arizona University.  She enjoys reading, sewing, musical theatre, and a variety of other hobbies.

 

 

 Thompson, Starla

Computers – Starla Thompson

Starla Thompson has been teaching computers at CAP since 2004.  She received her BS in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University and holds Arizona and ACSI teaching credentials.  In addition to teaching computers, Mrs. Thompson orchestrates the technological components of the school, including the Headmaster system and the school library.  She attends Heights Church and enjoys reading, genealogy, hiking, and a variety of crafts.

 

 

Bible & Critical Thinking – Norman Tatlock

Norman Tatlock joined Christian Academy in 2016.  He moved from Tennessee where he taught middle school social studies for 12 years.  Prior to that, he taught and coached at Boron High School and Thousand Oaks High School in California for 26 years.  He is currently enrolled at The Master’s University graduate school, located in Santa Clarita, CA, pursuing an M.A. degree in Biblical Studies.  He and his wife Nancy share worship times at The Heights and Solid Rock Christian Fellowship.

 

 

 

Creative Arts – Jeanne Braaten

Jeanne Braaten joined Christian Academy in 2007 and has over 35 years of experience working in the field of early education, as both a teacher and director. She attended Yuba Junior College and University of the Rockies. Mrs. Braaten has taught in California, Colorado, and Okinawa, Japan.

 

Tutoring – Michele Parent

Michele Parent has been with CAP since 2009 and is a Certified Advanced Level Barton Tutor.  She attended NMSU and Dona Ana Community College.  Michele has directed a daycare, taught preschool, and served as an elementary school librarian in the past.  She has 18 years of experience working with children.  She and her family attend Prescott Christian Church and enjoy nothing more than singing, dancing, and being silly together.

“I have found great joy and purpose in serving children who need intervention in their academic lives.  My goal is not only to help with the nuts and bolts, but also to lift their hearts and spirits and help them grow in God on their journey.

Preschool Director/Teacher – Jeanne Braaten

Jeanne Braaten joined Christian Academy in 2007 and has over 35 years of experience working in the field of early education, as both a teacher and director. She attended Yuba Junior College and University of the Rockies. Mrs. Braaten has taught in California, Colorado, and Okinawa, Japan.

As a preschool, we hope to ‘reach the world through the heart of a child.’ This is where God wants me to be, and I enjoy working with the little ones.  I feel so blessed to be here.”

Pre-Kindergarten Teacher – JoAnn Reed

JoAnn Reed joined CAP in 2012 with over 25 years of Early Childhood experience and has earned her Child Development Associate Credential.  She and her husband are transplants to Prescott from Minnesota.  Special interests in the classroom are storytelling, music, and science.
